The inactivity of this forum. | Thu Apr 02, 2015 11:06 pm by Burkman | It's depressing to see how inactive it has been recently. I mean, everybody is pretty much primarily posting in the never ending thread now and there's not enough people here to make this place really booming. We need to find some way to bring more people here before this place just fades into nothingness...
I know for a fact that a lot of boards out there are thriving because of how many people are there. We just need to get back into the game and pull people here. However, where we obtain these people might matter, because we don't to end up pulling in douches like those at Selkath.
I understand that people are busy these days, but it doesn't seem like they're rarely at their computer anymore. I know most of you are still dicking around with your computer. I don't know how we …

Vice Admin Burkman is taking a long earned vacation and Uly is stepping into his position. Well... I'd have more to say but I've got other things to do atm... and oh yeah... to quote Callin... | Well, yesterday, she had an abscess on her forehead. I took her to the vet, and the vet cleaned her up and the like. She was given many vaccinations, such as the leukemia vaccine, and I also found out that she has fleas.
Anyways, today, she's really unhappy and seems depressed. She hasn't touched food today, nor had any water. I'm quite worried about her... have any of you had experiences with cats after vaccinations? When did your cat begin to eat afterwards? What could be wrong with her? Is it a regular side effect?
Oh, and I found out "she" is really a "he". Guess under all the dark black fur I didn't see a pecker... And he's around six years old, making my guess of ten years old inaccurate.

It might not be the vaccinations. It might have something to do with the abcess. I worked for a short amount of time in vet's office.... but to be honest I had little experience with any vaccination problems... what did they do for the abcess? Our cats eating habits did change the next day after being treated for fleas, how did they treat the fleas?

| It could just be 'tail between the legs syndrome' as I call it... I've got no experience with cats, but whenever our dog gets a vaccine, he gets like really depressed for a day or two... It's nothing to worry about... And you should know, a cat is not a pet... A cat is its own master... It will start eating again when it feels like it...
But it can well be the anti-flea agent or whatever the vet used... Those have been known to put pets off their food...

Our cats eating habits did change the next day after being treated for fleas, how did they treat the fleas? Thanks for the help. For the abscess, they shaved off the fur where it was, and cleaned it. They drained out the fluid. For the fleas, they gave me Revolution, a flea repellant gel. I haven't applied it the back of his neck yet. They simply said she left flea droppings on the scale when they weighed him, and they prescribed my two cats 7 doses of Revolution, because they are in contact with one another.

I'm no expert, but isn't that an open wound? Shouldn't they have put something on it? Seeing it's right above her eyes (I forgot the name of the area in English), it could as well be just the pressure/feeling of the cut/whatever they did to drain the fluid making her feel depressed...

Exactly what I thought about the open wound. You would think they would put a cotton ball or gauze over it, but nope.

Honestly, I've seen worse. I'm sure he's gonna be ok. I know that, but Midnight hasn't moved from her spot on the rug since 8:30 AM. He doesn't purr when I pet him in his favorite spot, which is on his cheek.

The only way you can bandage that is to put one of those cones on their head or they will just claw it off themselves. - Bobabounty wrote:

| Does he show any signs of life? Like does his chest go up and down whilst breathing? Does he respond when you pick him up? | |

He will move to change position, but he refuses to eat or leave the carpet.
