OT Legacy: Heroes EmptyThu Apr 02, 2015 11:06 pm by Burkman
It's depressing to see how inactive it has been recently. I mean, everybody is pretty much primarily posting in the never ending thread now and there's not enough people here to make this place really booming. We need to find some way to bring more people here before this place just fades into nothingness...

I know for a fact that a lot of boards out there are thriving because of how many people are there. We just need to get back into the game and pull people here. However, where we obtain these people might matter, because we don't to end up pulling in douches like those at Selkath.

I understand that people are busy these days, but it doesn't seem like they're rarely at their computer anymore. I know most of you are still dicking around with your computer. I don't know how we …

Prologue....

It has been nearly 10 years since the Treaty of Coruscant and the begining of the Cold War. The Republic has been struggling to keep its systems under their power, but have proven not strong enough for the Sith Empire. The Republic is finally recovering finacially from the Sacking of Coruscant.

The Jedi Order, who was struck hard during the Sacking has relocated to Tython. There they have started an almost new life. Over the course of the 10 years, the people of the Republic have come to trust the Jedi a bit more. In these hard times, the Jedi Order stands as an organization of hope. Any one man can stand as a hero in these times. Young or old. Male or female. Human or not. A hero is out there... many are out there...

Silence. Kalbon Branch is alone in his quiet little room in the large structure that is the Jedi Temple while his roommate is out on a mission. He was recently sent on a mission himself somewhere in the forest of Tython with his master. Anyway, he was back and practicing his healing technique on the scars he aquired on it. He'd rather be a healer than be a General to this damn so-called war anyday. Kalbon sits there on his bed, concentrating. He focuses on his large scar on his arm he got when was fighting one of those stupid worms. He focuses. It starts to burn instead of heal and he yells out a curse. He stops and leaps off his bed. Why can't he heal!? He storms out of his room and walks through the hall. He passes a few fellow Jedi until he finally makes it out of the Tython Temple.

He turns around and looks into the sky of the planet of Tython. It's scraped by the tower structure he just exited. He takes a deep breath and absorbs the scene. He stands for a few minutes before proceeding down a path he chooses at random. It leads to the ruins of past Jedi Temples. Kalbon walks through the ruins slowly. As he is half way through the many forgotten temples he spots something strange. He jogs to the spot and picks the object up. It is a blue orb about the size of a large skipping rock. It's hard and completely unscathed. No scratches or anything. He attempts to examine it further, but is stopped when he hears his Master's deep commanding voice in the distance.

"Kalbon! Kalbon where are you?!" he yells as he comes into site on the path. He wears his usual dark robes. His face is rough and if you saw him you would think he just came out of a cave with hundreds of Sith as company. His strong dark beard ruffled in the light breeze. Kalbon quickly shoved the orb into a pocket in his robe. "Kalbon! How many times must I tell you not to come here? I may need you at any moment!"

Kalbon bolted upwards at attention. "Yes master, sorry master!" he sputtered. His master. Jedi Master Celius Bayyn. Known as one of the greatest war strategist the Council had ever seen. Always knows the terrain. Always knows the enemies strategy. Sometimes it seemed he even knew the strategy during an ambush. His master turned and signaled for Kalbon to follow.

"Kalbon, you are nearing your next birthday. Correct?" Celius asked as he continued down the path at a fast pace.

"Yes master, it is in a few weeks." Kalbon replied. Truthfully, he had stopped caring for his birthday. Not only was it on the anniversary of the Sacking of Coruscant, but he was also taken to the Temple the week after his sixth birthday. He didn't care at the time, but he decided at 13 that he wished he could've stayed. Kalbon then wondered why his master was bringing up his birthday. He knew it was a pitiful time for Kalbon and he also knew for a fact it was coming up. "Why do you ask, master?"

Master Celius looked down as he walked and had, from what Kalbon could see, a smirk on his face. "Well my intelligent and curious apprentice, I have gotten permission from the Council to go to Naboo for the week. Now don't get excited. We won't just be lazin' around doing nothing!" he said friendly, yet sturnly. Naboo was one of the more peaceful planets in the galaxy at the moment. It was one of Kalbon's favorite planets. So quiet and so comfortable. But of course there would be a catch. The Council doesn't let Jedi go just ANYWHERE they want in these hard and fearful times.

Kalbon kept his cool, but his face showed he was leaping with joy. Finally, he lost the battle with his excitement and smiled a big smile. "Well... uh.... w-why has the Council let us go?" he stuttered quickly. His master kept his pace down the path and hasn't looked at Kalbon yet.

"There are reports of a smuggler in the area. Local police are locking down on his location, but they'll be needing assistance. We have been given rooms in Theed for our time there." he said. Kalbon's smile grew and he fought the urge to leap for joy. He was supposed to be a professional Jedi Padawan in his late teenage years. The two finally arrived at the Temple doors. "Pack what you wish and get some sleep. We leave tomorrow."

Kalbon took a quick, respectful bow to his master and ran through the halls. He ran through his door and pounced on his bed, forgetting his scars. But he remembered almost instantly. Then he remembered his orb. He pulled it out of his robe and examined it. It seemed solid in and out. He looked closely and noticed writing on the.... inside? He spun it to it's side and the writing stayed the same. He spun it upside down and it stayed the same. He tried to read the writing, but it was too small. He searched under his bed for something to place it in and found nothing. He placed it back into his robe and decided to just take it with him for the journey. He packed a few clothes for the journey and jumped back onto his bed. He was excited to say the least and could barely get to sleep. But in the end he lost the battle and slept. This night would be the most comforting night that he'd have for awhile.

Chapter I
Part 1

Senator Kurt Fugem walked at a high pace from his ship in a public hangar. The Senator was with his aide, Julson Omerson and a fellow Senator from his planet, Vase Katly. The 3 are being escorted by 5 to 8 guards. They are here on this planet, illegally. Their planet, Otania, was one of the many planets given to the Sith Empire after the Treaty of Coruscant. However the planet didn't agree with their new "protectors". The Otanians revolted and aquired half of their planet. Soon the Sith would kill major Otanian leaders and half of the Otanians left the resistence. They formed their own group. Finally, the Otanians sent Kurt and Vase out to find planets that would help them in their time of need.

As the group walks from their Otanian ship, their ear drumbs are shot by a loud explosion. Everyone falls to the ground and Kurt turns to the explosion. It came from their ship. Kurt stood up and started running toward the exit. He ran at his aged speed to whatever exit he could find. When he reached a closed door he stopped and found the others with him. Their tech specialist opened the door and they rushed in, as the guards looked for the enemy. The room they were in was the hangar control room. The guards studied the room quickly and found another door. They rushed into the room and repeated their steps until they exited the hangar completely. Now they saw their objective. The palace in the distance is their destination.

The Otanians needed a speeder, but didn't have the time to get one. They would have to reach the palace on foot and get past the predators which Kurt predicted was the Sith. Most of the group hurried to the palace while three guards stayed behind to buy some time. A curve in the road, but a small alley cutting through the road. In the alley, the group would prove to be easy targets. However they would be caught taking the road. In a split second, the group chose the alley. As Kurt ran, he glanced over his shoulder to see a shaded man leaping from building top to building top. As he watched he tripped over a rock and landed on his face. Two of the guards stopped to try and pick him up. Kurt looked back as they did and saw the dark figure making an enormous leap. He landed directly infront of the Otanians and lit his double bladed lightsaber. The guards dropped Kurt lightly and he braced his fall.

Kurt lifted himself from the dirt to see his guards being tossed to the wall. The Sith Warrior sliced another guard down and disignited his lightsaber. He looked around to find Julson and Vase who were being forced to their knees by the Sith. Kurt himself was being lifted into the air. The Sith approached him. Kurt looked closely and noticed the Sith's Haruun Kal decent. He looked bewildered and uncontrolable. His hair was long and in tangled dreadlocks. Kurt straightened in mid air as he was gripped by the Sith.

"What is your name, Senator?" asked the Sith. He stared at Kurt with his shocking eyes. Kurt retured the gaze with one of his own. Kurt was silent. The Sith dropped him to the ground and Kurt fell with a thud. He pushed himself up from the alley's floor and then looked at his surviving allies. Vase was slumping against the alley wall. However Julson, Kurt wished was dead at the moment. He was lying on the floor, crying. Kurt looked back at the Sith. "I will ask again, what is your name?"

Kurt broke his silence. "I have fought in many battles, seen many good men die. I've risen through the ranks of two military systems and seen what your Empire does. I am not perfect. I have made many mistakes. But I would rather die than to tell you Sith spit my name. For that would be a mistake on its own." he said sure and steady. This took the Sith back.

"You miserable worm!" the Sith yelled. Suddenly, Julson made an eerie screech.

"DON'T KILL HIM! I'LL TELL YOU ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW, JUST DON'T KILL HIM!" screamed Julson in a crying plee. If Kurt had enough energy, he would've killed Julson there and then. The Sith Warrior walked over to Julson and smacked the right side of his head with the side of his lightsaber hilt. Julson fell instantly.

"Now will you tell me?" the Sith smirked casually. Kurt kept his gaze and his silence. He would die before he gave out any information. "I can sense the fear in you, old man. Don't try to hide it."

"Jedi and Sith can feel what cannot be seen. Yet you cannot see what can be felt." Kurt said, clear as glass. "Bash my head with your weapon on. I do not wish to live and listen to your idiocy."

As the Sith considered this move, his Imperial troopers showed up to the seen. They pick up Vase and a medic tends to Julson. A trooper moved up to Kurt as two others lifted him up from behind. The trooper raised his blaster. Then the truth hit Kurt. Not only had he failed Otania to get reinforcements, he had rushed a scheduled attack on Naboo. The trooper swung his blaster's but directly into Kurt's jaw.

Part 2

Kalbon slowly woke up from a peaceful night. He looked at the clock next to his bed. 4 o'clock. He rose from his bed into a sitting position, surprisingly fine. The day before, he was aching everywhere, but now he felt almost brand new. He looked at the scar on his arm. It was gone. Completely. "Did I heal myself in my sleep?" he whispered to himself. Kalbon stood from his seat. Still without pain. He stepped to the door with a jump in his step. Outside is normal. The Padawan crept around the Temple halls and entered the emence hangar.

Inside he spotted his master almost immediately. Master Celius was standing next to a medium-sized cargo ship, speaking to a Republic trooper. The trooper is huge. Kalbon guessed he was maybe 6'3" and possibly weighed around 250 lbs. His armor had dark red markings that resembled a bird of some kind on his helmet. Kalbon walked up to the two towering men and bloated a very energetic smirk.

"Hello there, Padawan." the trooper said with a strange accent as he extended his bulky, armored hand. Kalbon gripped it the best he could and shook it. It felt like his hand was losing circulation as the trooper squeezed it unknowingly. The trooper took off his helmet to reveal a dark skinned man around his twenties. His hair was usual military style and his face was clean and shaven. "My name is Onro Savil, Captain of Zeta Squad." he said and turned to Celius, "So are we ready to go now?"

Celius nodded and pat his Padawan on the back as he turned to the other troopers of Zeta Squad. Onro opened the ship and walked at a steady pace. Kalbon followed happily. He entered a hallway and followed it into the strangly large cockpit. Onro was already starting up the ship's computer. Kalbon took a seat as more troopers came in. At the end was his master who cut through the line of 3 men. He took the Captain's chair and lifted the ship off the ground with ease. The ship flew a bit into the sky before he launched it into hyperspace.

Kalbon looked to the other troopers and extended his hand out to a Zabrak who shook it quickly. "Shal Born." the Zabrak said with a smile. Then he extended his hand to the others. One was a blue Twi'lek named Quale, who shook it nicely. The other was a human, but did not show any signs of friendship and looked to the side. Shal leaned in close to Kalbon. "That's Treath. He's not really what you call the social type." he whispered. Kalbon laughed and told Shal about the past few days. He told him about the blue orb and showed it to Shal. Shal shook his head. "Never seen anything like it," he laughed. Shal then started telling his own story. Shal was in the Senate at the time of the sacking, acting as a guard for Indonian representatives. During the attack, he successfully got the reps off world. He was awarded and then decided to join the Republic Army. Eventually, he met Quale and Treath who he became good friends with in Zeta Squad. When he finished, the two looked at Celius who had just turned to them.

"Coming out of hyperspeed," Celius said as the ship shook a bit. Kalbon glanced toward the transparisteel. The ship came out and was met by a unplanned, raging battle. The Sith Empire's battlecruisers were furious rancors attacking a weak and innocent prey. Naboo's small forces were being battered. Celius piloted the ship around an incoming fighter flying toward them. He successfully navigated past it, but then the ship shook greatly. Shal, Treath and Quale rushed out of the cockpit to their posts. Celius continued to fly the best he could as Onro acted as co-pilot. A fighter behind them blew to pieces.

"Yeeeehaw!" yelled Shal from the speaker. Apparently, he had taken the guns. Treath then ran back into the cockpit and leaned over Captain Onro. He told him something that Kalbon couldn't make out. Onro replied quietly and Treath ran back out of the cockpit.

"What is it?" Kalbon asked. Onro simply looked away as he told Master Celius something. "What's wrong with the ship!?" Kalbon repeated in a stronger, angered tone. Celius turned to him as Onro took the controls for a minute. His face was calm, but Kalbon noticed the sorrow in it.

"The ships engines are destroyed. We'll have to land somewhere on Naboo." he said calmly. From what Kalbon guessed, Celius wasn't telling the whole story. "And you my apprentice, need to calm down. You'll never achieve anythin-"

Part 3

Kalbon Branch felt the heat rushing to his limp body. He opened his eyes to a small fire in the dead of night. The smell of smoke filled his nose and he felt strange. He sat up on dry, scorched dirt and pulled off a soft, red blanket that was on top of him. He rose and looked around in horror as he saw the wreckage of his cargo ship behind him. He sprinted to it and took out his lightsaber to act as light. He crawled up to what appeared to be the blaster hold. There he found a skeleton. It looked as though it had been rotting in its spot for a century. And then he noticed something about it's skull. It had small horns sticking out from it. It was Shal.

Kalbon fell from his spot, dropping his lightsaber and landed on his butt. Then he pulled himself together and found his lightsaber. Kalbon climbed the hallways that he had walked on casually a few hours ago. He reached an opening that led to the cockpit. Inside, he found his Master and Onro dead, lying on the control panels. After he'd seen all he could take in, he hurried back to the opening in which he entered. Outside, was a man sitting next to the fire. The light from the fire made him startling. The man had long dark hair that stretched to his shoulders. The light made it hard to judge the color though. Kalbon looked down next to the man to see a droid that looked like a T1 Astromech. The man looked at him. With the fire, his face looked menacing, but something inside Kalbon told him that everything was going to be fine.

The man stood up. Now Kalbon guessed he was around 6 foot. When the man stepped out from behind the fire, Kalbon saw most of the man's clothes. Ragged blue jacket and a white undershirt. Kalbon stopped and suddenly notice the tears he had gathered. He whipped them clean and sniffed a bit. He reached for his lightsaber slowly, but when his hand arrived at his belt, he felt nothing. He scrambled for it and couldn't find it. Then he looked back to the man who was now holding his lightsaber in one hand. The man smirked and started toward Kalbon almost like he was sneaking up on someone from behind. Kalbon's breathing became slower as he tried to catch his breath. When the man was within arms length he handed Kalbon his lightsaber.

"Matieu Khai," the man smirked. Kalbon was scared and confused now. He took the lightsaber, not sure whether to strike this man down or to shake his hand. Kalbon opened his mouth to talk, but no words came out. He cleared his throat and tried again, but without success. The man gave him a sympathetic smile and pat him on the back. "Come on. Let's get you near the fire." The man said leading him to the fire. As Kalbon sat down, the droid let out a weird noise.

"No Chirpy, he's not retarded. He's just in shock. Calm yourself." Matieu told the droid bluntly. Matieu set the blanket over Kalbon and pat him on the back. He sat next to Kalbon and stuffed his face with something. Then he looked over to Kalbon. He reached toward the other direction and came back with a marshmellow. "Want one?" he asked with a full mouth. Kalbon nodded and took the marshmellow. He nibbled on it for awhile and tried to go back to sleep. It was going to be a long night.

Part 4

The smell of vomit entered Kurt Fugem's nostrils as he slowly came to. At first it was dark, then he was able to see colors, but they were blurry. Finally, everything came into site. By what he judged, he was in Naboo's Throne Room, surrounded by several, fully armed guards. He searched around him. Vase Katly was consious, but had a black bruise on her right cheek. To her left was Julson, thankfully unconsious. Kurt lifted himself up from the Throne Room floor and onto his knees. Seven to eight Sith troopers surrounded his position. He glanced outside to see the Sith army roaming the streets of Theed. In the raining sky, Sith fighters were flying everywhere and capitol ships casting darkness onto the Palace. All my fault, he thought to himself.

When he and his party left, the largest city under Otanian control was being attacked. The party had barely made it out alive and he was sure how it had ended. The turn-coats to the south just sat back and watched their brothers to the north die. Even one of the greatest minds in the Otanian Army had moved south to avoid more war. Currently, the Otanians had no clear leader to fight Darth Pan'Da's Sith Army. So General Span Kyv had rallied Otania to fight the Sith. So far he was doing a great job, but could only do so well. At that time, they had the southern Otanian's help. Now they were small and vulnerable.

As he thought, an explosion shook the room. The troopers outside were scrambling for cover as a building close to the palace exploded. The room shook again and two of the Sith guards ran to the hallway. One turned it and was immediately shot down. A grenade fell next to the second guard and threw him to the far wall. The explosion was blinding. Even with his faulty sight he could hear the entering faction's yells. "Varik, guard to the left!" "Imperial scum!"

When Kurt regained his vision he was being picked up, by Republic troopers with smokey gray markings. They stood Kurt up and carried him to the exit. He tried to run with the trooper but didn't have the energy. The trooper took Kurt to a window on a high floor. "Hold on!" the trooper yelled as he made a leap out of the window. Kurt landed on the trooper to assure he was unharmed by the jump. The trooper picked him up again and continued. The two slid under a overcasting roof in an alley. The trooper set Kurt down behind a small garbage can. Kurt watched as two more troopers followed with Vase and Julson. Followed by a last trooper with a black shoulder pad on his right arm. This trooper went up to Kurt and kneeled down infront of him.

"Senator, I am Captain Tycori Coll, leader of Wolf Squad. We'll get you out of here," the trooper said in his helmet altered voice. Kurt looked to see his trooper peaking out from the corner of the alley. Another trooper was tending to Vase and the still unconsious Julson. But Kurt couldn't find the last trooper. The Captain looked at his data pad on his left arm. He turned it off and bent over to pick up Kurt. "Time to go Senator. Let's get to a drier location."

The other troopers got Julson and Vase and followed the Captain. They continued until they came to a small, abandoned house that showed force into a once barracaded door. Inside was the last trooper who patiently awaited his team. The Captain set Kurt down on a worn out couch and jogged to a locked window. The place looked like the spot of a crime scene or something. Whatever it was, nobody had lived in it for years. Once everyone was inside, a trooper closed the door. The Captain came back from the window, still holding his weapon.

"Alright men, pots off." the Captain told his troops. The troopers took their helmets off showing their faces. "Allow me to introduce you Senators. This is Corporal Boba Bunti, he's my heavy weapons and explosive man." the Captain said as he laid his hand on the shoulder of a white bearded man. The man's beard was thick. It reminded Kurt of the Talz he had run into on Alzoc III when he first started looking for back-up.

"This young man here is Sergeant Varik Wilbourn. He's my medic and knows how to get the job done." the Captain continued, refering to the smiling man around his 20's. Then he moved on to the youngest looking member of the team, "And last but not least is Private Reden Sausen. Our scout and the man who found this hole in Theed."

The Captain himself looked around his 30's and had a rather rough jaw. Kurt looked at the diverse members of Wolf Squad and nodded. "Pleased to meet you. I am Senator Kurt Fugem. This is my aid Julson Omerson and Senator Vase Katly. We are repre-"

"We know who you are Senator. We were sent here to rescue you. Right now you need sleep until Republic forces arrive and get us out of here." said Varik with his everylasting smile. Kurt pondered the last time he saw a smile so warm. Surely, if he had, it wasn't anytime after the Sacking of Coruscant.

Boba's just trolling, don't worry over it. Liking it so far, Branch. This writing style works for you well.

To tell the truth, I thought Boba was more mature than this. And thank you. This has gotten me on a creative road so I'm happy.

Chapter II
Part 1

The smoke rose from the new fire that Matieu Khai had built after the rain stopped. It was difficult because of the wet wood, but the man found a way to do it. The droid was off somewhere. Kalbon thought he heard Matieu say something about him going off to fix the ship or something. But Kalbon wasn't sure. He didn't really pay attention much. He kept thinking of what had just happen. "You'll never achieve anything" mocked him repeatedly. Those were the last words that his master said to him before the crash. Before a small mission to capture some smuggler on a beautiful planet turned into the worst day of his life. No, not the worst. But up there. He thought about Shal, fried to the bone in the pit of the guns. What kind of blast was so powerful it could burn the skin off of a living, breathing being? Finally these thoughts stopped as Matieu Khai sat next to him and crossed his legs.

"So, where are ya from?" Matieu said trying to pull a little joy from Kalbon. The attempt was futile as Kalbon just stared at him. Matieu laid back on the scorched ground and sighed. "I was part of a crash once. It was a little while ago. There were moments I had thought about what my life had been like. If I had never gotten on that ship. Then I snap to reality. And I remember that the "what ifs" are pointless."

When he finished, Matieu stood up and walked to his case which was lying near where the grass restarted. Kalbon thought about what he had heard. There were simularities in the two positions. Then his mind trailed of to his own crash. How did he survive the crash? He had no armor. No superduper-Force protection bubbles. He was also probably the most fragile of the whole ship. Yet he lived. Eventually, he trailed back to Matieu. The man was still digging into his case. For the first time, the man would hear Kalbon's voice.

"Where are you in life now?" asked Kalbon with a cracked voice. Matieu stopped digging. He turned to Kalbon with lonely eyes and thought about his words before he said them.

"Me? Ha. I'm just moving through the motions. Avoid all government contact and you can make it in this galaxy." said Matieu. Then Matieu fell back into his thoughts. The spot was silent with only the cracking of the fire. Finally, Matieu broke the silence. "Why did you and your crew come here?"

Kalbon choked and gathered his memories. "Uh, my master and I were looking for a smuggler and ran into the Sith..." Kalbon stopped as he went into deep thought. He looked at Matieu, who had a sort of stunned face. "What is it?" Kalbon asked. Matieu looked away quickly and turned to Chirpy who was rolling back to the fire. He released a few whistles which Kalbon couldn't understand at all. Matieu however acted like it was a second language.

"The ships up and ready." Matieu said. "Um... I'm not a normally a kind person, but I don't think you want to meet up with the Empire. So if you want to tag along awhile, you can. I can get you somewhere and drop you off."

Kalbon amazingly smiled, and gripped his lightsaber hard in his right hand. In his left hand was the blue orb which had a sort of warmth to it. And what choice did he have anyway? If he stayed, the Empire would find him, he'd be tortured and maybe even tempted to join. If he was rescued, he'd go back to the Jedi Order. He'd get a new master, that would teach him for a few years before he graduated to Knighthood. Then he becomes a General and would have to fight in the war. If he's not rescued.... he most likely dies. Kalbon rose from the ground and set the blanket over his shoulder, still tightly holding his two relics. The two new friends walked to the ship, not knowing of the future ahead of them.

Part 2

"Senator! Wake up! We're leaving!" yelled Varik. Kurt stood up quickly and straightened himself out. He followed Varik outside where the rest of the party was waiting. Boba was peaking out the corner and then dashed to the next building. Reden and the now awake Julson followed. The next was Tycori and Vase. Finally, Varik and Kurt ran toward the same wall. Once they made it, the squad was already in action. Just like last time, Boba was peering out of the corner. He turned to Captain Tycori.

"Captain, this won't work. We'll need to either go all the way around or attempt to sneak past the parade of Sith troopers incoming." reported the Sergeant. The Senator stepped up to the two troopers. He guess Tycori was pondering the situation, but couldn't tell because of the expressionless helmet. Eventually, he could tell Tycori had looked his way.

"Senator. What do you think? We could go through the Sith troops, but at high risks of being spotted. If we go around, it would take us more time. Something we don't have at the moment." said the Captain. Time was of the essence. They had to get out of Theed and eventually get off Naboo. "All your call, Senator."

Kurt went with his gut instinct. "Let's get past them here. We have no time to waist." he said proudfully. The Captain nodded and turned to his troopers. He gave the commands and they waited patiently for the right moment. Boba looked vigilantly at the marching troops. Then he spotted their point. Between the line of tanks.

"Alright stay low, and run quickly." Tycori whispered. Boba gave the order to run for the streets. He stayed back to be the rear of the group. Vase and Reden bolted passed the first pair of tanks. Next was Julson and Varik. Just as they passed the first of the pair, Julson fell, pulling Varik down with him. The Sith screamed for their troopers to fire. Varik jumped infront of Julson to protect him as he rose from the road to return fire. When Julson was almost up, Varik picked him up and started running. Suddenly, a blaster bolt came and hit Julson square in the chest. He went through and knocked Varik back down to the floor.

Boba signaled for Tycori and Kurt to go while he provided cover fire and got the other two. As they ran, Reden came and escorted Kurt the rest of the way as Tycori helped Boba. He tossed a grenade into the crowd and smoke covered the Theed road. Kurt lost sight of the troopers on the road as the smoke fogged the area. Then Boba and Tycori busted through the smoke with the other two. Tycori leaned over Julson and felt his pulse.

"He's dead." the Captain said bluntly. "How's Varik?" Boba was kneeling next to Varik, doing the same as Coll.

"Varik's fine, but we need to find a way out of here before the smoke clears up." said Boba, trying to stay above the noise of gunshots next to them. Tycori nodded and Boba picked Varik up and placed him on his shoulders.

"Let's go!" Tycori yelled to his party. Reden led the way as he read the directions to the Theed gate. At the side of the gate, the team waited until the rest of the Sith troopers and tanks had past. When the gates started to close as they screeched through. Tycori, in last, barely skinned past the large, crushing doors. They were out of Theed finally.

Now that the team was out of Theed, they needed a transport out of Naboo. Where they would find it was unknown. Night was falling as the team graized the fields of Naboo. Eventually, Varik woke up. He was mentally fine, but had gotten an injury from the blaster shot as well as breaking his foot from the fall. Tycori let him use his own blaster rifle as a crutch. Just as Kurt was begining to doubt Wolf Squad, Reden spotted smoke coming from a far position. They were nowhere near a city. That much Kurt knew. So this had to mean someone else was here. Hopefully with a ship.

Part 3

Matieu Khai's ship was.... interesting, to say the least. Kalbon had never seen a ship like it before. The blue and white color scheme was battle worn. He wasn't quite sure what ship type it was or even the company that might have made it. But at the moment, when he could become a Sith prisoner, looks wasn't really important. Eventually, however, curiousity overpowered him.

"So... where did you get this?" Kalbon asked, watching his words. Matieu came out from behind the ship with a wrench. Apparently, there was more to be fixed. Kalbon didn't know where the droid went. When the three got to the ship, the droid just kind of disappeared. Matieu grabbed a rag and wiped his hands when he spoke to Kalbon.

"I bought it." the man said smugly. He cleared his throat. "This baby is custom made. Made a kriffing good business deal and it all worked out." Kalbon rubbed his head at the curse. The Temple was obviously a very strict place. Even after the Sacking of Coruscant, manners was a major part of being a Jedi. Kalbon shook it off and tried to focus. Then a weird sound came from the background. It was the click-clack of blasters being cocked and loaded. Kalbon felt a freezing blaster barrel pierce his back.

"Don't turn around." said a deep, commanding voice. "And you, smuggler, I wouldn't yank your blaster out. Unless you want to be blasted to bits." Kalbon shot Matieu a look. Smuggler? Matieu just looked at him and turned his head away. As he did, two more troopers came up behind him.

"I'm a Jedi, troopers." Kalbon exclaimed as he took out his lightsaber. He ignited it and showed it's emerald light. The trooper still had his doubts, but backed-off a bit. "I am Padawan Kalbon Branch. Apprentice to Jedi Master Celius Bayyn. We were sent here to capture this smuggler when we were intercepted by the Sith. I was the only survivor."

One of the troopers nodded and they eased up on Kalbon. The two troopers took Khai into the ship while the trooper behind Kalbon stuck his hand out. "Captain Tycori, leader of Wolf Squad." he said. "We saw the wreckage of the ship over yonder. We noticed you were missing." Kalbon disignited his lightsaber and shook his hand. Out from the meadow, a trooper limping in on a blaster rifle came over with a strong, weathered old man and a young, petite woman. Tycori walked over to the ship entrance. "Our mission is to escort these senators off-world. While we're at it, I guess we can get you back to the Jedi."

Kalbon worked up a smile from scratch and followed the Captain into the ship. Inside looked almost as bad as the outside. Kalbon went into the cockpit where the three troopers and Khai were. The Captain and another trooper stayed as one trooper went outside. The trooper that stayed introduced himself as Boba and Kalbon shook his hand.

"Alright smuggler, does this ship have stealth?" asked Tycori. Matieu nodded and pushed a lever. "Then pilot this ship around the Sith fleet. After that, I'll take the controls." Matieu stared at Tycori in disgust.

"The hell you will kriffin' tin-can! Nobody pilots this kriffin' bastard but me! You got that?!" Matieu yelled. The Captain smiled at Matieu like he was a child complaining over getting a toy. He leaned toward Matieu still boasting his smirk.

"Look smuggler, you don't really have the power to make the rules." he said as he set his hand on his blaster. Matieu bit his lip and turned back to the controls, mumbling. The ship raised itself off the ground and flew into space. The Sith were oblivious to the passing ship as it cruised past them. Once past, Boba took Matieu out of the cockpit as Tycori took the controls. But not without a little pushing. The controls were like the rest of the ship. Different than any other model. Eventually, he got the hang of it and the team was off for the Core Worlds. Coruscant

Part 4

They were halfway to the Core. Kalbon had stayed in the cockpit the entire time thinking about what had happened. The smuggler. The smuggler, Matieu Khai, had killed his master. He thought about Shal and the rest of Zeta Squad. Did they have families? Friends? Lives beyond the military? All of Kalbon's thoughts stopped as a new one entered. Talk to him it said. It wasn't his. Much rougher and commanding. He drug himself from his seat and into the small halls. Next to a closed door was Reden, the newb of Wolf Squad, with his helmet off. He was very young. Maybe only a few years older than Kalbon himself. Kalbon walked over to him and he bolted to attention.

"Master Branch, what may I do for you?" he said. Master? Hardly. Kalbon dismissed the mistaken title and got to business.

"I need to speak to the prisoner." he told Reden who imediately opened the door. Inside was Matieu, slumped in a corner. Beaten and bruised. Kalbon closed the door behind him and the room turned dark again. He ignited his lightsaber which illuminated the room in emerald. Kalbon grabbed Matieu's throat and lifted him into the air with the Force.

"If it wasn't for you, 5 good people would be alive! It's all your fault!" screamed the enraged Padawan, yelling the last sentence slowly. Matieu began to choke and grabbed his neck in hope for relief. Eventually, Kalbon dropped him onto the cold, hard ground with a loud thud. On all fours, Matieu gasped for air. He released a inhuman yelp for air and then turned his head to Kalbon. The smuggler's hair covered his face, but Kalbon could still see the man's light blue eyes being brightened by the green light.

"That's sad. Tell me more," the smuggler gasped sarcasticly. What the kriff? Kalbon thought. Death stood above the smuggler and he was a joker til the end. Matieu raised himself and used the wall to hold himself up. The smuggler made a growling sound as he stood. His face was being enlightened by Kalbon's lightsaber, but there was a trace of blue leaving his face. Kalbon lifted his lightsaber to kill the smuggler, but found himself unable to kill Khai. Once more there was something telling him to keep the scum alive. He disignited his lightsaber and lowered it to his side.

The two were silent for a long while. Finally, Matieu broke the silence. "You are a lot like me..." he laughed, still catching his breath. "Do you want to be a Jedi?"

Kalbon wondered this himself. Could he go back to the Temple on Tython and really be like he used to be? No, he couldn't. Kalbon shook his head. Matieu stood up on his own power and then walked over to the door. He knocked on it. The door opened revealing Reden on the other side. The young trooper was met by a kick to the stomach. Reden fell to the ground gasping.

"Kriff! I went too high." yelled Khai. He lifted Reden and delivered a punch to the face. Matieu picked up the unconsious trooper's blaster and jogged over to another door. He opened it to have Chirpy roll out. He made a few loud whistles until Matieu told him to be quiet. Kalbon finally caught up with Matieu who was already planning his next move. "Kalbon, go around and get that trooper over here."

Kalbon walked around the corner to find Boba standing next to the cockpit door. "Boba! Come here." Kalbon yelled. The trooper jogged over and Matieu came out to pound him with his blaster's butt. Boba fell instantly and Khai moved to the cockpit door. It opened and Tycori landed a punch to Khai's face. The trooper swung another fist which Matieu ducked under and retorted with a fist to the chin. Tycori fell back and regained his balace. He grabbed Matieu's next fist and picked up the smuggler. He threw him to the corner and stomped over to finish the smuggler. That's when Kalbon intervened by pushing Tycori against the wall, knocking him unconsious. Kalbon lifted Matieu up and rushed into the cockpit.

Matieu jumped into the captain's chair. "Reseting cooridinances for Corellia. It's the closest thing we can get to without crashing." he said as he finished his magic. "Chirpy, get us a good landing... and not like the one on Naboo!" The obedient droid whistled and did as commanded. "Kal, go find the senators. I'm gonna get these guys situated."

Kalbon looked in the crew's quarters and found the senators and Varik, the injured trooper. Matieu had tied the three other troopers to chairs in the cockpit. Kalbon took a seat next to Matieu who was now relaxing from his previous fight. Once more, as the fighting had stopped, Kalbon took out the blue orb. He tried to read it again as he came toward his homeplanet. He once more couldn't read it. The orb started to glow, then dimmed back down.
