The inactivity of this forum.
Thu Apr 02, 2015 11:06 pm by Burkman
It's depressing to see how inactive it has been recently. I mean, everybody is pretty much primarily posting in the never ending thread now and there's not enough people here to make this place really booming. We need to find some way to bring more people here before this place just fades into nothingness...

I know for a fact that a lot of boards out there are thriving because of how many people are there. We just need to get back into the game and pull people here. However, where we obtain these people might matter, because we don't to end up pulling in douches like those at Selkath.

I understand that people are busy these days, but it doesn't seem like they're rarely at their computer anymore. I know most of you are still dicking around with your computer. I don't know how we …

Happy New Year!
Wed Jan 02, 2013 2:56 pm by Scott
Happy New Year OT! We may be dying... BUT WE'RE STILL HERE! We had an... interesting year last year. Vice Admin Burkman is taking a long earned vacation and Uly is stepping into his position. Well... I'd have more to say but I've got other things to do atm... and oh yeah... to quote Callin... "GET A MIC YA BUM!"

PostNew Admin and Change of Forum Address

Hello all! I would like to announce again that we are having a change of forum address at the end of the week. We are changing over to "swtorot.forumotion.com". If anyone could fix the link on the TORums and any other related sites it would be much appreciated!

As I stated before I was taking apps for admin position via PM. Well here it is... the twist. I have chosen your nominees for admin. All of YOU will chose your next admin. The criteria that I was looking for was someone who was willing to take the time to put in a decent app. I'm a little saddened at the low turn out of apps, but here are your options, you have 1 week to decide:

Admin

Are the poll results final? Like, if somebody all of a sudden votes for Colla, does that mean he wins and we all don't? Or does Scott make the final decision?

And let me give you this for example:

User 1 is biased but is decent with HTML coding and web page development.

User 2 is VERY popular, but doesn't know a forward slash from a back slash. He's also very biased.

User 3 is average. He knows some things, is kind of active, but has no bias.

User 4 is the best candidate. He has no bias, is very well liked, knows everything about HTML coding, has experience as an admin.

Then the community takes a vote. They vote in User 2 by a 5:1 margin. THis is not a good choice, simply because he will not fulfill his position. User 4 should have been selected, but since User 2 is very popular, he gets the position.

Now I'm not saying this is happening here, but I believe Scott should have final say on the matter so something like the example above doesn't happen.

What the hell has happened to my little corner of hell...

God dammit Scott! stop polishing the OT monument like the lusty argonian maid does a spear..

And why in Thor's name is Branch on the next admin list? have we suddenly all gone mad?

As of right now that's how the polls are staying... unless all the nominees agree to restart the poll... this poll will run for another 6-5 days.

And B is on there because he applied... he was one of four.

Popularity plays no roll... if people vote by popularity and the nominee does not hold to the standard I look for in an admin... I will simply remove them.

From the looks of things Burkman's gonna win anyway, but he would be my vote regardless. Either him or Branch (who I think has learned his lesson and could be a great leader for the OT TBH).

I'm pretty sure Branch wants to purge the OT of undesirables... such as myself. He wants a shining new OT full of new members and the few old members who's presence he will allow. Unless they anger him. Branch rules with an iron fist.

Translation: This is a popularity contest. If they win and they suck, I'll replace them. But I'd like to run a popularity contest first. Popularity contest. Pop-pop-pop... Pop-popularity.

Come ooon! Even presidential elections are popularity contests!

EDIT: I should add that I'm not upset or complaining about this whole thing. I just thought this'd be funny. So laugh, god damn you!

I think Scott should be an admin why can't we vote for him?
Garrus wrote:

Cause he doesn't want the luggage that comes with the position... Plus, he already has Admin powers and is the site's main maintenance monkey in all but name (and suit, I can remedy that, though)...

Oh well. If Burky becomes Admin... do we have Moderator elections? Or do you appoint him/her?

FTR Scott IS an admin technically since the forum is under his name and he has all admin powers and he's in the invisible "admin" group. There's just a secondary visible admin group that people see to know who are the admins. True story bro.

If I do become an admin, I say we appoint a new mod or two.

If we do that, I'd be interested.

And if I was a mod here I wouldn't operate like I do at EG, guys. you
Burkman wrote:

Eh, I wouldn't mind being a mod again. Less to do than an Admin and I think I'm active enough for it.
Burkman wrote:

If I were to put on a straight face (which I can do, for limited periods of time), I might do a decent job of it...

Though.... Do not tempt me, Frodo Baggins...

Oh my God... if we do apps for Mod and we do a vote...

I'm still in favor of Scott appointing these people, not us. Don't look on the unintelligent masses to vote.

I gave everyone equal shot at this... I thought I was being nice by letting THE PEOPLE decide who they want for secondary admin.

If it is decided that we need new mods admin or myself will choose the mods... as my gesture of favor to the community seems to have turned into a shit storm using this method. you
