Rise of the God of War EmptyThu Apr 02, 2015 11:06 pm by Burkman
It's depressing to see how inactive it has been recently. I mean, everybody is pretty much primarily posting in the never ending thread now and there's not enough people here to make this place really booming. We need to find some way to bring more people here before this place just fades into nothingness...

I know for a fact that a lot of boards out there are thriving because of how many people are there. We just need to get back into the game and pull people here. However, where we obtain these people might matter, because we don't to end up pulling in douches like those at Selkath.

I understand that people are busy these days, but it doesn't seem like they're rarely at their computer anymore. I know most of you are still dicking around with your computer. I don't know how we …

Happy New Year OT! We may be dying... BUT WE'RE STILL HERE! We had an... interesting year last year. Vice Admin Burkman is taking a long earned vacation and Uly is stepping into his position. Well... I'd have more to say but I've got other things to do atm... and oh yeah... to quote Callin... "GET A MIC YA BUM!"

I just arrived on Tau Ceti at the Bellator Facility. It's a lot larger than I imagined. The Project Olympus branch clearly has more funding than I thought. I've been looking forward to this since the academy. Project Olympus has the most advanced R&D in the TSA military. I thought I'd be stuck right in their R&D department, but apparently my aptitude tests proved I'd be more utilizable in psychology and cybernetics of their soldiers. In fact I was only notified today that I am specifically working on a one on one project with the subjects. I haven't been given many more details, but I'm anxious to start.>>>

<<< 2302.02.21-

I've familiarized myself with the facility's layout and taken inventory on what resources I'm granted... which is ultimately, to say, infinite. I saw some of the production of a nano-diseminator field. I can't imagine what they have at R&D... the stuff here is only here because they've found a practical application. While I see the practicality of it... looking at the schematics of how they will graft the cybernetics is... well a work of art. Unfortunately I'm told this was for another subject than mine. Speaking of which I was given the name of my subject today, Tasu Venkamas.

I've spent nearly the last 24 hours getting to know the man's record, which is to say impressive at minimal. When they say they pick the best of the best for this program they aren't fooling around. He was born on Chevron 5, an Indonesian colony majorly populated by farmers. His father is a retired UNE and TSA marine, but what is more interesting is his grandfather, James Morak.

THE James Morak. The guy that filled half our astrogenometric and physics books back at Terranautics Academy. His work on gate tech revolutionized our understanding of FTL travel. The thought that something could be faster than a Higgs Boson FTL drive field... it's... staggering to say the least. We always assumed that the gates simply converted mass to energy and wrapped a singularity around it. But in fact it's even more complicated. While we have the mass to energy conversions correct... it isn't creating a synthetic singularity around it... it's creating an actual singularity. Creating a white hole in the entry gate... the conversion of mass to energy wasn't for faster FTL... it's simply so the object of transportation can exist near the singularity. From there the object would follow the event horizon into the black hole of the other gate... essentially overlapping with its time. Now since the object can't reach the singularity of the white hole it MUST transfer into the event horizon OF the black hole. From there both gates exist as one source of energy and simply revert the object back to mass. It's still a mystery as to how both singularities get linked conveniently to the desired destination, but it would be my guess that both singularities were in fact made at the same time in one location... and one is simply the future self of the white hole... as per Seven Hawking's research. How someone would accomplish this is beyond my field of study. Anyway... I've gone off on tangent.

Perhaps if Tasu Venkamas had taken up physics instead of a rifle we might have had yet more gates open, but that is not my goal for this project. That aside he had some of the highest intelligence stats and at the youngest age I've seen in my career. He entered HEIT (higher education and intense training) at the age of 19 at Vespucci Academy. After 4 years of hand to hand combat, tactics and recon, and weapon proficiency training he was placed in the 112th Recon division of the TSA Marine Corps. There are more accommodations and medals than I have time to list while he was in the division. Kajan rebels on Arkos Prime captured him and he was a POW for nearly a year. He escaped after he befriended a couple of the rebels when they let their guards down. This is an essential observation on his psychiatrics profile. He is charismatic and resourceful.

Afterwards he didn't even take a leave of absence. He was reassigned to TSA Intelligence as a field agent because of his far expansive linguistics. I myself know 4 languages fluently... and another 2 partially. This man... knows about 30 and all the accompanied accents. And those were the ones listed in his profile BEFORE he started his position as a field agent. For a 28 year old he has seen more action than a lot of soldiers from the Nexus Wars. I wonder how he'll feel to work with someone younger and modestly... more naive. Usually military career types end up like General MacBain... angry and discontent... or at least that was her medical eval of him from her first meeting with him. In fact it was probably ONLY because of her own military background that he brought her on-board.

I've also met with the other arbiters. We set out a semi-detailed scheduled. They seem like nice bunch to be working with. The subjects arrive in a couple of weeks. I'm not sure why... but I'm nervous. Perhaps it's because I'm going to be playing with the powers of a god... or perhaps that I have to be able to handle those powers while keeping a man alive and sane. I read up on the Rio incident... maybe that's where the nerves stem from.... and the surgery and training we're going to put these subjects through is even harsher than all the previously crated units.>>>

Met Tasu Venkamas today. He's... not like I expected. He shows signs of repressed emotions and memories right off the bat. I'm sure any soldier that has been through what he has would. However this is exactly why I didn't want to go into psychology, forming relationships with a patient. I'm not much of an extrovert or people's person. Luckily Venkamas is well disciplined and silent... at least with our first meeting. As per my assignment I have to figure out how to get him to open up. I'm just glad it seems like someone I'll be able to stand for... well I guess this will be my social life for the foreseeable future. The other week was when I found out that we aren't just involved in the training and creation of cybernetics... but we continue our evaluations and analysis well into the subjects performance back into the field. I hate the 'on a need to know basis' shit... but I really should have seen this. With the preliminary schematics that I've seen... damn... once you're committed to the project there really isn't anyone else who can do what we do. And if the rumors are true on the tech we're integrating into the subjects... I don't see how we will be able to release them for active duty ever.>>>

<<<2302.03.25-

In the past couple weeks I've gotten Venkamas to start mind relaxing and mind strengthening exercises. Yesterday I placed pressure nodes all over his body to take a few estimated readings. This guy is unreal. I put more than 2,000 kPa at some points and he didn't even flinch... not even a ruptured blood vessel. I... I can't even imagine what kind of force he'll be able to withstand with his implants. A full on incendiary grenade? Of course that's all moot now that I've seen what we're putting into him.

I... they want me to oversee this tech... I can't even begin to understand how they came to develop it. It's actually ingenious. Though I wonder if there aren't other more beneficial applications of this tech than for military use. Basically we are going to implant magnetic gravity wells into him. At first I though these wells would be no more than for mere alteration of regional gravity... these things actually create synthetic singularities! I don't understand how something like this can even be safe outside of a lab let alone IN a person!?

According to the 'manual' I was given (which is more of a list of equations used)... the gravity wells can be used to created a time distortion field with the synth singularities. Due to the minute surrounding mass compared to an actual singularity the synth singularities will collapse on themselves if no energy is provided for them to feed on from the user. I've concluded that not only will these implants allow the subject to warp time itself, but it has physical practicality as well. If the user doesn't wrap the singularity around them self, it could be used as a literal massive imploding hammer. A heavy duty ferroduracrete bunker would fold and crumble with a simple punch. Another large part of the schematics is that they can create some sort of reverse singularity... essentially releasing more energy than a nuclear warhead. I will have to discuss this with my colleagues. I feel we will have to, at least at the start, modify the release of energy. I am still gauging the range of abilities this application could posses.>>>

<<< 2302.04.19-

I'm so glad the city is nearby, I've been couped up in the lab for the past month going over and verifying these micro singularity schematics. They're... completely feasible. I wont go into the details or logistics of it, but... I see why they want constant psych evals on the subjects. Once the implants are in and functioning... one wrong thought... and we'll all be like that speck of dust a starliner hits at warp 5. Venkamas is one of the most emotionally and mentally sound people I've met, despite repressed memories. Unfortunately the military seems to have more of an eye for those that can handle the implants physically rather than mentally. I read through Levlell's psych eval of Charlotte Corday... how can they possibly be considering her for this project? She's clearly a repressed emotional cripple. I understand her physical qualifications and mental determination, but that could really bite us all in the ass. In the end it's not my call to make and Levlell thinks she will be fine. Rafael Burk... I haven't read his full psych eval... but Tyranus tells me that he's as sound as a neutron core.

In other news... the other two Arbiters and I along with Zeus have started the design for the unit AI. We're calling it Artemis. As statistics and studies showed the AI will be given a feminine personality for psychology reasons. Her data processor is designed based right off the mass core data drives from Zeus. We still need to figure out how we will speed up the synapses between the cognal AI implants and the brain itself. I think that will end up being a simple matter of neuron prognosis and mapping out each of the subject's brain signals and patterns. We'll also design Artemis with a synapses recognition software based off of human interaction. This means Artemis will not only store and give information with a forced personality. But she will learn and adapt with the three subjects seamlessly. The biggest problem we ran into was preventing thought cross-over between subjects. Well we still have a month before the first surgeries... and we have past records yet to go over. And R&D constantly sends us ideas. Dr. Cheska especially has been helpful with his neuron pattern recognition software.>>>

<<<2302.05.14-

Today was the start of the first surgery. I told Tasu to relax, despite his outward appearance I can read anxiety in his face. He is completely under for the procedure. This first surgery will be to enhance the cardio and skeletal systems. His heart will receive another two synthetic chambers and a secondary vessel system. We are treating his marrow to replicate a new type of nitrogen rich blood cell. This will allow for easier and quicker flow of oxygen to organs and muscles... as well as their effectiveness and efficiency. He will have an ulra-high metabolism when this is done. Heh... it isn't going to be cheap to feed him.

We are also introducing another chemical reaction to the marrow in order to create a carbon lattice bone structure. His bones will be nearly 500% harder with double the density. Not in-shatterable... but I'd imagine it would be like hitting a duracrete wall. He will need to consume ferromagnesic and tungsten rich vitamins in order to placate his intake of necessary heavy elements to sustain his new bone structure and skin. He'll be sitting in that bed for two weeks at least. I got him some vids to watch while he's in recovery. I know it sounds silly but I've seen him every day out on the firing range or in the weight room. Tasu's a machine when it comes to keeping his body in shape... two weeks with no physical activity... it'll be hard to keep him entertained.>>>
