It's depressing to see how inactive it has been recently. I mean, everybody is pretty much primarily posting in the never ending thread now and there's not enough people here to make this place really booming. We need to find some way to bring more people here before this place just fades into nothingness...
I know for a fact that a lot of boards out there are thriving because of how many people are there. We just need to get back into the game and pull people here. However, where we obtain these people might matter, because we don't to end up pulling in douches like those at Selkath.

Happy New Year OT! We may be dying... BUT WE'RE STILL HERE! We had an... interesting year last year. Vice Admin Burkman is taking a long earned vacation and Uly is stepping into his position. Well... I'd have more to say but I've got other things to do atm... and oh yeah... to quote Callin... "GET A MIC YA BUM!"
Since grimeth's a dick and won't write his own story unless I do it first and then he comes here and correct me, proving that he was more than willing to share the story all along, I better get started...
Grimeth worked at mcdonald's today from 1-4pm. 1pm. That's probably lunch hour. Grimeth says there was quite the line. Anywho, the first thing they have him do when he gets there.. THE FIRST THING... is work at the register. And they didn't train him on how to do it, at all. There was another girl working a different register and the manager, ramon, told him to "shadow her."
How ridiculous is that? Grimeth has no clue what to do and they're just shoving him up there to work a register next to someone who's also busy with customers with all those fucking people up there. I'm convinced this guy hates how many customers shows up and was hoping a new person would infuriate them to the point that they stop going to that mcdonald's. Cuz that's what's gonna happen... and he don't give two shits what they put grimeth through in the process.
The girl he was supposed to be "shadowing"? Which is retarded, he ain't shadowing her, shadowing her would've been him standing there watching her, not working his own register. Anyway, she started working there 2 days ago. 2 days! And she's up there alone and having to teach grimeth how to do something she's not even that experienced with herself. Unreal. Apparently, they have computer courses and stuff and they didn't even have grimeth do that first. This ramon must think it's the best way to learn. He's being an idiot. I feel like he's a terrible manager... I hope a district manager of some sort gets on his case, realizes he's fucking up the operation and gets him to do things different or replaces him.
I like to think that once upon a time, when people were new to a job, they trained those people. Cuz they wanted them to be good at their job, not just for their sake, or the manager's sake, but for the customer's sake, too. Customers are typically assholes who feel like employees are some sort of non-human slave. They can be so easy to piss off. Why would they risk pissing off people with untrained employees? You know who gets the shit for that? The employee. "They don't know how to do their job." You know who's fault that is? The higher ups.

The first thing I did when I started working at the Family Dollar was work in the back stocking shit and unloading the truck. Â A few days later, they put me on the register and helped me out with it until I got it down, which I did.
What Grimeth's manager did was absolutely ridiculous. Â Even though he's gotta learn, at least show him how to work the register instead of throwing him in there blind. Â But all in all, working the register is so goddamn easy. Â Grimeth will pick it up in no time. Â When you come across annoying and frustrating customers, just take it and deal with it, because if you snap at them, you probably will lose your job.
I had to deal with my fair share of asshole customers. Â We all do. Â Like this one time these kids came in to buy like 5 2 liter bottles of soda and all they gave me was pennies. Â PENNIES. Â It took me fucking forever to count them all. Â It was also holding up the line.

Registers aren't that bad.. but yeah... that's inappropriate to ask someone to run the register without training. At least if they fired Grim because he didn't know what he was doing he could sue. This is why I've never worked retail... I'd prob snap. I had a few obnoxious customers at the gas station I use to work at, but nothing overly bad.

Uly has changed the color of the login input fields to that dark blue that's used on the rest of the site so that you can see the white text on it again.
