The inactivity of this forum.

It's depressing to see how inactive it has been recently. I mean, everybody is pretty much primarily posting in the never ending thread now and there's not enough people here to make this place really booming. We need to find some way to bring more people here before this place just fades into nothingness...
I know for a fact that a lot of boards out there are thriving because of how many people are there. We just need to get back into the game and pull people here. However, where we obtain these people might matter, because we don't to end up pulling in douches like those at Selkath.
I understand that people are busy these days, but it doesn't seem like they're rarely at their computer anymore. I know most of you are still dicking around with your computer. I don't know how we …
Happy New Year OT! We may be dying... BUT WE'RE STILL HERE! We had an... interesting year last year. Vice Admin Burkman is taking a long earned vacation and Uly is stepping into his position. Well... I'd have more to say but I've got other things to do atm... and oh yeah... to quote Callin... "GET A MIC YA BUM!"
It will be bigger than GTA 4, San Andreas, and Red Dead Redemption combined. That's 5 times the size of GTA 4.
You can switch between playing as 3 different people. One an alcoholic psycho, one a middle-aged ex bank robber, and one a member of the grove street gang.
You can buy things like helipads to keep helicopters.
More vehicles and weapons than any previous GTA.
FUCKING SHARKS ARE IN IT.
You can go scuba-diving.
You can take a tour around the city.
It will be on both the current generation of consoles and the next.
FUCKING SHARKS.
You can go and visit all the places in GTA San Andreas.
SHARKS. FUCKING SHARKS.
...Although I'm sure none of you care.

And that is correct, mr Jet. In the Open World game area, I'm more interested in titles like the upcoming Saints Row IV.

I'm looking forward to GTA 5. If there's anything I love to do in GTA games, is find the disco radio station and run people over in an SUV.

I do not like sharks... You wanna have your fun little ocean adventure and these things fill you with a sense of dread. I suppose that's part of the fun. But the terror... oh god, I can feel it already... knowing they're out there... they could be anywhere...

Have you seen the SR4 trailer?
Large ass city, sharks, scuba diving, helipads (oh wait SR already has those).
OR
Large ass city, dubstep cannon, enlargement ray, monster trucks, ridiculous vehicles and crafts, aliens, super powers, and better takedowns.

GTA 5 will win in terms of story and characters. Also radio stations, because GTA 4 has a fuck ton of stations with a fuckton of different music as well as hilarious commercials on the stations. I honestly think GTA has more of a selection of vehicles than SR, but who knows.
Saints Row wins the mindless fun and crazyness factors as well as the see your custom character in cutscene things. You can prefer Saints Row over GTA if you want. I can see why people prefer SR over GTA.
For me, I will probably like GTA 5 more than SR4 because of the good times I had from all the other GTA games. GTA also has the realism. Did I mention the massive music selection?

I haven't played a Saints Row game yet, but I've played all the main console GTA games, so naturally I'm excited about it.
I should probably do some research on Saints Row, though.

I liked GTA4 in it's own way... but I like the ridiculous overpowered crap from SR4. If I'm going to play a thug-em-up sandbox... I'm not going to take it seriously... which is why realism has no factor in my opinion. SR4 has like NO story... but again... I just like running around with a 5 foot dildo and beating folks to death with it. :P

I liked how over-the-top saint's row 3 is. The game doesn't take itself too seriously. It's about the fun.

This... tho I agree with burkman on the radio thing... SR3 has some good songs (and a good variety per station) but not as much as GTA4 had.

If they're going to be making a separate announcement for GTA 5 multiplayer all together it must be pretty big. I hope some customization comes into it but they follow the same basic idea GTA 4 set.

So, being new to the series I've only played GTA III insofar. Should I play all the main games leading up to five in preparation for this new title? Or are there any that you don't think I'd particularly enjoy for some reason? I imagine they're all good, but still

San Andres is my favorite, but they are all good games. I don't think you would need to play all of them of leading up to five. It's the same formula.

GTA 1 and 2 are from a top down view and had a very small budget put into them (Rockstar was worried they might go bankrupt at the time). If that kind of thing turns you off then you won't be missing too much anyway. They're kind of entertaining for a little while but truth be told they just don't compare to the later titles. Rockstar used to have them available to download for free off their website but I just checked and it's not there anymore for some reason. I'm sure they're on Steam for next to nothing though (if even that).
GTA 3 being the first 3D one is where most people started so you're on track with most others. :P
Vice City is where it sort of turned into more than just random driving around and killing. There's some more options and the story is a bit more serious and in depth. It's def worth playing.
If you don't play any of the others, play San Andreas. For two reasons: 1. GTA 5 is in the same place and 2. It's simply the best. The story, characters and overall game is just fantastic in every single way you could imagine.
GTA 4 is also a great game, although a lot more enjoyment from it comes from the online, it still has a fantastic single player. There's two DLCs for it too. Lost and Damned and Ballad of Gay Tony. Lost and Damned is good, but it didn't take me very long to beat...Ballad of Gay Tony took quite a bit longer and overall I enjoyed more tbh.
Like Colla said though, they're all pretty much the same formula. The games just get bigger and more deep with options with each one.

I think this calls for grabbing a helicopter and bringing it right down on you guys before you can even get in those golf carts.

I'm getting it for PS3 since my Xbawkz doesn't have enough memory for the initial 8 gig install.
