| So, uh... I went running for reals today... I made it about 1.3 miles in 18 minutes. Apparently, that puts me at an average of 4.3 mph. >_>
You stop your laughin'. I've literally never walked outside my door and jogged in my life. Uly has to start somewhere.
When I'm running 2 miles in 12 minutes, we'll look back on this and laugh.

When I'm running 2 miles in 12 minutes, we'll look back on this and laugh. 2 miles in 12 minutes is actually a good and ideal goal if you're looking at it from a long term point of view.

| So, I ran to and fro the same place today. The only way I know the distance is that google maps says it's about 0.6 miles from the place I start to the intersection I turn back at. It's like halfway from 0.6 to 0.7, so I'm calling it 0.65 and saying I go 1.3 miles. >_>
Anywhooo... I used the timer thingy on my watch this time and got 15 minutes and 45 seconds. Not sure how accurate my time was the first time, as I doubt I improved after one time. I think all I did was push myself harder this time.
So, I averaged 4.95 mph today. Supposedly, to pass basic training in the air force, I have to run 1.5 miles in 11 minutes and 57 seconds. So I need to hit an average of 7.5 mph over a 1.5 mile stretch... at the minimum... I guess I want to hit 8.
"But uly, how many situps and pushups do you have to do?"
45 pushups in one minute and 50 situps in one minute, according to the air force website, anyway...
"How many can you do, dear uly?"
Uh... less than 10 pushups. >_>
I didn't count situps, but I'm gonna call it 15-20... <_<

You're training long distance. Just keep up a constant run and you'll make it.

Ah yes... I forget most of you are allergic to showering... You swim in your shower? And Uly, you can't expect to be Air Force ready within a week period. Its gonna take time.

| Good work Uly!
Yeah there's no need for supplements yet... just get use to running every day... and running/jogging the whole mile. Challenge yourself to be able to do more push ups and sit-ups every week than the last week.

| On the subject of running I've been getting back into it lately and today was the first run in a while where I truly pushed myself 5 1/2 miles at a speed higher than usual. | |

Not to mention his speed will improve over the course of running due to fat loss, better endurance and just generally being in better shape.

| Well, I went again today and got 15 minutes and 35 seconds. Also, I can't keep up a constant ruuunnn, wilbooourrn. It's too muuuucch...
As sore as my legs are every day... it's not my legs that make me stop jogging and start walking, I think it's my heart. The cardio part. >_>
I'm not sure if this is the right thing to do or not, but I start jogging for like 4 minutes and then I can't take it anymore and walk for 2 minutes. Then I start jogging again for like 2 1/2 minutes and walk for like 3 minutes and jog again for another 2 minutes. Well, you get the idea. I keep jogging until I can't really take it anymore and then try to last until the next 30 second mark then walk for a while to catch my breath.
I don't think I could keep up a constant jogging pace, even a slow one. I'm not really sure how to "pace myself." I don't start with an all-out run or anything. I just jog at uh... jogging speed...
Also, yeah... I'm not trying to be fit enough for basic training in a week or anything. Apparently, it takes about 4-6 months to be sent off to basic. I just feel like I should get started now. I haven't talked to a recruiter yet because I feel like once I do, they'll want to get the ball rolling ASAP. I'm not ready for the ASVAB test yet and I have no real clue about what kind of jobs I'd be interested in.
