The OT Academy EmptyThu Apr 02, 2015 11:06 pm by Burkman
It's depressing to see how inactive it has been recently. I mean, everybody is pretty much primarily posting in the never ending thread now and there's not enough people here to make this place really booming. We need to find some way to bring more people here before this place just fades into nothingness...

I know for a fact that a lot of boards out there are thriving because of how many people are there. We just need to get back into the game and pull people here. However, where we obtain these people might matter, because we don't to end up pulling in douches like those at Selkath.

I understand that people are busy these days, but it doesn't seem like they're rarely at their computer anymore. I know most of you are still dicking around with your computer. I don't know how we …

Happy New Year OT! We may be dying... BUT WE'RE STILL HERE! We had an... interesting year last year. Vice Admin Burkman is taking a long earned vacation and Uly is stepping into his position. Well... I'd have more to say but I've got other things to do atm... and oh yeah... to quote Callin... "GET A MIC YA BUM!"

There is no weakness, there is awesomeness.
There is no being stupid, there is being smart.
Through being smart, I troll wittly.
Through being witty, I evade the MODs.
They won't catch me, the Alliance will set me Free

><><Ͽ{The OT Academy}Ͼ><><

Welcome everyone to the diagnostic/explanation/elaboration area for the new RP board, "The OT Academy." The idea is complicated, but a load of fun, so let me explain.

This is to be a social, interactive forum. People will have their characters interact, sometimes even go on missions together. What is to be formed here is a community amongst characters, with ongoing relationships, rivalries and encounters.

The year is set 100 years before TOR, the place is Tatooine. The idea of "The OT Academy" is to start a Force-using character from their roots. Your first post will be you being brought into the Academy, and your situation you find yourself in. Over the course of your stay in the Academy, you will be delivered quests... missions and the sort, in order to gain prestige, to earn titles like OT Defender, Mastah, and perhaps if you stick with it long enough, Councilor.

The idea is that with each mission given to you, you are to write and elaborate on how your character completes these missions. Once you are finished and you post, the GM will grade your post according to creativity, grammatical accuracy, and entertainment value. You will gain a certain amount of Prestige points, which go towards your ranking in the Academy.

You'll start out as an Young One. Your first mission will be to do something to impress a jedi master to become your mentor. Then you will become a Postawan.

As a Postawan, you must also create a "Mastah" that will accompany you on quests until you reach Knighthood. (Note: You won't be in the Postawan stage for long, so don't worry too much on the background of your Master... unless you really feel like going all out.)
When you reach enough Prestige points to earn the title, OT Defender, you will be assigned three missions according to the standards of the OT Trials. You will be given a set amount of points you will need to achieve in order to pass the trials, and if your writing and story do not pass, then you will have to try again later. According to how you finish these trials and the pattern in which you have written past missions, the master will suggest which color lightsaber crystal you take, and whether they think you best suited for the Knight, Warrior or Superior.

After attaining the rank of OT Defender, you are permitted to create a character sheet for your very own Postawan, that you will add into your mission posts.

Once you have attained enough Prestige points to become a OT Mastah, you will be given the task of testing your own Postawan for Knighthood. You must write out your postawan's three trials, and they must succeed if you are to gain the title of Mastah, similar to the Knight trials.

Eventually your Prestige will get high enough for you to work for the title of Councilor. Here you will be assigned a mission to retrieve an ancient artifact. The manner in which you do so must be sustaining with the OT Code, and the customs of your chosen class. Here you will also be assigned a lot of points that you will be graded on for cannon accuracy, entertainment and grammatical accuracy.

I hope this all makes sense. If you have any questions please write them here so everyone can see them. I will post a graph showing required prestige points for each rank upgrade and the bonuses that come with each.

If you're interested, use the Character Creation Sheet provided below. Since we're starting our characters out new, the only Bio you'll really need is where they were born, and how they were brought to the Academy. Post your character sheet here and i'll make the board for the actual In Character writing.

PostSubject: Saber Forms   The OT Academy EmptySun Feb 13, 2011 5:24 pm

Choose two Saber forms and one advanced only

Form I: Shii-Cho
The default form. Contains the basics for lightsaber fighting

Form II: Makashi

  • 10 Battle Points (Knight Primary)
  • 15 Battle Points (Warrior Primary)
  • 20 Battle Points (Superior Primary)
  • 50 Battle Points (Knight Supplementary)
  • 60 Battle Points (Warrior Supplementary)
  • 75 Battle Points (Superior Supplementary)

Form III: Soresu

  • 10 Battle Points (Knight Primary)
  • 10 Battle Points (Warrior Primary)
  • 10 Battle Points (Superior Primary)
  • 50 Battle Points (Knight Supplementary)
  • 55 Battle Points (Warrior Supplementary)
  • 60 Battle Points (Superior Supplementary)

Form IV: Ataru

  • 20 Battle Points (Knight Primary)
  • 15 Battle Points (Warrior Primary)
  • 10 Battle Points (Superior Primary)
  • 60 Battle Points (Knight Supplementary)
  • 55 Battle Points (Warrior Supplementary)
  • 50 Battle Points (Superior Supplementary)

Form V: Shien/Djem So

  • 10 Battle Points (Knight Primary)
  • 20 Battle Points (Warrior Primary)
  • 25 Battle Points (Superior Primary)
  • 50 Battle Points (Knight Supplementary)
  • 60 Battle Points (Warrior Supplementary)
  • 75 Battle Points (Superior Supplementary)

Form VI: Niiman

  • 10 Battle Points (Knight Primary)
  • 10 Battle Points (Warrior Primary)
  • 10 Battle Points (Superior Primary)
  • 40 Battle Points (Knight Supplementary)
  • 40 Battle Points (Warrior Supplementary)
  • 40 Battle Points (Superior Supplementary)

Form VII: Juyo

  • 60 Battle Points (Knight Primary)
  • 75 Battle Points (Warrior Primary)
  • 90 Battle Points (Superior Primary)
  • 120 Battle Points (Knight Supplementary)
  • 150 Battle Points (Warrior Supplementary)
  • 180 Battle Points (Superior Supplementary)

Advanced/Unorthodox Forms:

Lightwhip Combat:

  • 50 Battle Points (Knight Primary)
  • 65 Battle Points (Warrior Primary)
  • 95 Battle Points (Superior Primary)
  • 110 Battle Points (Knight Supplementary)
  • 145 Battle Points (Warrior Supplementary)
  • 160 Battle Points (Superior Supplementary)

Jar'kai:

  • 20 Battle Points (Knight Primary)
  • 25 Battle Points (Warrior Primary)
  • 35 Battle Points (Superior Primary)
  • 35 Battle Points (Knight Supplementary)
  • 35 Battle Points (Warrior Supplementary)
  • 60 Battle Points (Superior Supplementary)

Double Bladed Lightsaber Combat:

  • 60 Battle Points (Knight Primary)
  • 80 Battle Points (Warrior Primary)
  • 95 Battle Points (Superior Primary)
  • 105 Battle Points (Knight Supplementary)
  • 140 Battle Points (Warrior Supplementary)
  • 160 Battle Points (Superior Supplementary)

How will they be awarded? Battle points will be awarded based on a comparable scale to Prestige. The current scale is 1 Battle Point to 10 Prestige.

Why should I care? Lightsaber forms can be very useful in story writing and character building. Remember, in order to build a OT that is unique to you, it is important to have your own lightsaber form. Why should you buy a form? So that you can expand your mental horizons and develop the amazing OT-character you've always dreamed of!!!

Does the first form I pick have to remain as my primary form? No. The first form you pick is your intended primary form. However you may at any time declare a supplementary form (any form chosen after the first form you buy) to be your new focus. However, once you reach the rank of Master, it is recommended that you officially declare your permanent primary form. After you do this, you will be granted Mastery by the Battlemaster; in any RPs following the action, your character wil be allowed to behave in a manner denoting Mastery in the chosen form. (Note: Character may choose to gain their Mastery in Shii-Cho as well as the other forms. It is recommended that your form be listed somewhere on your character page or RP post for ease of identification)

Do I have to pick a OT classification? At this point, no. No OTer is required to confine himself within a class role, be it hard or soft, if it is not their wish to do so. Any OTer that leaves their classification listed as blank, or undecided, will simply purchase lightsaber forms as if he/she was listed as a OT Warrior.
