| Welcome to the OT Miners Union! Supported by the Cabana. I remember some time ago in chat we tried (I tried at least) to set up a MineCraft server for the OT... We failed then, but if at first you don't succeed... Whine until somebody takes care of it for you... Well, I think I finally did it! I set up a Minecraft server! It wasn't that hard really... I just needed to go into the matter more throughly than just 'I'll try to do it with one click, cause I'm lazy...'
So much like the Terraria thread I set up some time ago (the server is still up if anyone's interested...), you can post questions here, share your answers and opinions on the game and anything MineCraft related... _______________________________________________Hamachi Networks: | Name: | Password: | 1. | TRATerra | hyrule53 | 2. | OT Miners Union | bananazorz | _______________________________________________Minecraft Servers: | World: | Host IP | Server Version: | Host/OP: | Dedicated: | Status: | 1. | The Cabana | 5.103.30.165 | 1.2.3 (latest) | BananaDealer
| Yes | Running and on Demand | _______________________________________________Cabana Spleef Guidebook:
- The Teams and The Arbiter:
There are two teams in a game of Cabana Spleef. On the field, they are usually designated by Orange and Green and are called Monkeys and Bunnies (respectively). Teams in Cabana Spleef can range from 4-6 players, or depending on playing field; though 6 players per team is recommended for the standard field.
Assuming a 12-player Scenario, each Team consists of: One Miner, Three Defenders and Two Keepers.
The Miners: They are responsible for reaching the other Team's side and 'claiming' their colors. They are armed with a single Pickaxe but have no Armor. They can destroy any blocks, except the Red Lining and Arbiter blocks.
The Defenders: Their main job is to defend the Miner and see him safely across the other Team's side. They are armed with a Sword and have a set Iron Armor. They can destroy any blocks (though they are not advised to), except Red Lining and Arbiter blocks.
The Keepers: Are to their Team's House what the Defenders are to the Miner. They take on the duty to keep any of the opposing players at bey and away from their own House. They are armed with a bow and an inventory-full of Arrows and have a set of Leather Armor. They are not advised to attempt to destroy any blocks.
The Arbiter: Is the one judging the fairness of the game and the play of each team. He is advised to stand on the Black Wool blocks (which are therefore called Arbiter Blocks). He is armored in a set of Diamond Armor but carries no weapons.
- The Playing Field:
The Standard Playing Field in Cabana Spleef features a 14x25 Rectangle. As a rule, it is made up of Multicolored Wool. The Wool can be of whatever color the arena-maker wishes, though the standard colors are: Red Wool for Field Lining, White Wool for filler, Black Wool for Arbiter. This is a picture of a Standard Cabana Spleef Playing Field, inside the Cabana Arena:
Each side of the Field features a 'House' made up of three colors- usually Blue, Yellow and the last, innermost being the teams' color. The House is separated from the rest of the field via Red Lining.
- The Purpose and Play of The Game:
Unlike normal Spleef, where players aim to 'take out' other players by removing the blocks below them, victory in the Cabana version is awarded to the Team that manages to 'claim' the others' color.
A game of Cabana Spleef lasts either until one of the teams claims all of the other's colors, one team is left with no players on the field, or there are no more White Wool blocks on the field, in which case a tie is called. Games that take too long can be 'called off' by the Arbiter, awarding the Victory to the Team with most 'points'.
Points are awarded to one Team for destroying the other's colored blocks (or 'House'). One colored block equals one Point. Destroying a whole line of same-colored blocks however scores a Goal. A team needs to score three Goals (thus destroying all of the colored blocks within the opposing House, including the team-specific color) in order to Win.
No player is allowed to destroy the Lining of the Field, or the Arbiter blocks and the team can be penalized for doing so.
Penalties include:
- Suspending a player for a set amount of time or until the end of the game.
- Awarding a point to the offended team or taking a point form the offending team.

| I'm building a spleef arena with a scoreboard and spectator stands (help would be appreciated). I'll post the rules after I finish it. It's a bit different from normal Minecraft Spleef... A bit like football... Sorta... | |

| Spleef arena is now finished! Well... All that's left is the spectator rows and the team rooms, but that is aesthetics... The score board is a bitch and works only one way (has to be manually reset after the game is done) but I'm happy with it and frankly- I don't see a way of making it work as I had planned...
Anyways... Grim honored me with a visit today... He sounded impressed...

You have got to teach me how to do that... The lighthouse, I mean... Not quite sure what you mean by 'a working boat'... Anyways... Arena is officially finished. Still an open air one, I'm figuring out how to make a domed/sloping roof... Like the one on most football/soccer stadiums... I'm gonna make the rulebook in a bit and post it here...

I'm gonna make the rulebook in a bit and post it here... There are some 3d programs that can help you get the look. Im not talking about editors that others use. It mainly helps to map out a shape of a sphere.

Actually I'm looking more towards an elliptical ceiling... I'm trying to figure it out right now, on paper at least... It would've helped if I had made the arena a square... But nooo... I had to make it 34x27 blocks... Dammit... Though I guess that will help with the elliptical feel...

What you do is start with one ring (the longest length), go down the middle of the arena, then build to and away from it in steps.

Nooo... TNT is be illegal, unless for building purposes... Am I allowed to dig a giant hole though? Depends on how big (across) the hole is, but generally- yes. Giant holes are fine, as long as the dig is controlled... Tossing TNT randomly does not equal a 'controlled dig'... Basically building anything is allowed (as long as it's not a giant lava-spewing penis). Just keep in mind that my main project is to build a domed city, of sorts, spanning a large area around the Spawnpoint (which is currently on top of my house... D'oh!)... So keep your creations at a distance... I would generally advise that if you build anything, it be over the ocean as the Dome will be over the land... @Jet: When have I yelled at Grim? Besides that bed incident... And Grim has already been to the server and we've been OK with each other... He's building some sort of airship (I dunno)...
