Guitar Tips

It's depressing to see how inactive it has been recently. I mean, everybody is pretty much primarily posting in the never ending thread now and there's not enough people here to make this place really booming. We need to find some way to bring more people here before this place just fades into nothingness...

I know for a fact that a lot of boards out there are thriving because of how many people are there. We just need to get back into the game and pull people here. However, where we obtain these people might matter, because we don't to end up pulling in douches like those at Selkath.

I understand that people are busy these days, but it doesn't seem like they're rarely at their computer anymore. I know most of you are still dicking around with your computer. I don't know how we …

Heyo..are any of you guitar friendly? I know Burkman plays.

Anyhow I need some tips. First, the dreaded guitar buzz. I keep practicing, holding down the strings as hard as I can, not touching other ones, but I still get it. Any tips on that? And just in general guitar tips as well?

For now I'm just trying to learn how to play the basic chords and memorize them.

It usually gets that buzz when your strings are too close to the nuts(The metal bars that separate the frets and your strings are probably hitting them). What you need to do is raise the bridge, which heightens the strings. The bridge is located on the body of the guitar where you put the strings in. Is it an electric guitar or an acoustic?

Ah. Well, another possibility that your guitar has spanking new strings on it. If that's the case, they probably just need to be worn down. When I put new strings on my acoustic, the bridge was raised perfectly where it was supposed to be, but it made that buzzing noise. After a while, the buzzing sound went away, because I played it a lout.

That's pretty much it. Lowering the bridge on an acoustic is more complicated than an electric, but you probably don't have to worry about it.

It's kind of hard to get into, but I'd like to push through it because I know once I understand a bit more I'd enjoy it a lot more.

No problem, dude. Just keep playing and playing and playing. That's the only way to get better. When you get more experienced, you should explore and experiment with different rhythms and chords. That's what I do. I just mess around so much, I find cool shit to play.

If I can get back with the band I could have joined, my true colors will shine once more.
