It's depressing to see how inactive it has been recently. I mean, everybody is pretty much primarily posting in the never ending thread now and there's not enough people here to make this place really booming. We need to find some way to bring more people here before this place just fades into nothingness...

I know for a fact that a lot of boards out there are thriving because of how many people are there. We just need to get back into the game and pull people here. However, where we obtain these people might matter, because we don't to end up pulling in douches like those at Selkath.

Anyhow, Rest In Peace to you Mandela. Died at 95 to a long time illness in his home in Johannesburg. South Africa.

Anyway, Mandela and Walker's death are both saddening, but Mandela's death was the one that most affected me; What he fought for, the ideals that he exposed at the time, the time he faced in prison for the rights of the people he supported and how he wanted a nation where it didn't matter the colour, but what mattered was the heart.

Long story short... I was on a long trip around southern Africa extravaganza and when we got to Joeburg (after 2 weeks) a bunch of us foreign students had talked to the University to set up a meet and greet with him (tho it turned out to be more of a tour group). He had a little plaza place that I wouldn't be able to afford in 10 lifetimes. I'm not 100% it was where he lived... but it seemed more of a homely place than somewhere a tour group would go. So when we got there we were greeted by some administrative folks (I don't know their technical term) who asked us a few questions and gave us some brief background info on who Mandela was. They pretty much treated us like kindergartners. We met with Mr. Mandela in a little lounge with a couple other people (I don't know what they did or who they were but they were all friendly). We didn't really talk about anything "historical" or anything. He just shook all our hands and asked us how we liked South Africa so far... if we'd been to Krugar National park... Titsicama (sp?)... Cape Town... if we were gonna see any of the World Cup... etc. And told us other things we should try while we were there. I think I was in the room for a total of like 15-20 minutes with him before they moved us onto a lecture about the Apartheid. Then they shuttled us over the Apartheid Museum (like fricken an hour away). Which was next to an amusement park oddly enough.

Not all that riveting... but there's your story.
