Dora the Explorer explored

It's depressing to see how inactive it has been recently. I mean, everybody is pretty much primarily posting in the never ending thread now and there's not enough people here to make this place really booming. We need to find some way to bring more people here before this place just fades into nothingness...

I know for a fact that a lot of boards out there are thriving because of how many people are there. We just need to get back into the game and pull people here. However, where we obtain these people might matter, because we don't to end up pulling in douches like those at Selkath.

I understand that people are busy these days, but it doesn't seem like they're rarely at their computer anymore. I know most of you are still dicking around with your computer. I don't know how we …

Dora the Explorer is far more complicated than what we see on the surface. No parent would let their child roam the countryside on her own. Dora is obviously an orphan, a victim of the vicious drug cartels that plague Mexico. Traumatized she was thrown into an insane asylum. In order to escape the pain, Dora turned inward to her own imagination. She creates fantasies and imaginary friends to ease the suffering.

The landscape obviously supports this theory. What Mexican countryside looks the way it does in the show? Especially without cars, travelers or roadside muggers? It simply cannot be real. The prison cell she lives in is a dark and decrepit one so the portrait she paints for herself is one of green pastures and babbling brooks. The geographic diversity over such short distances, along with the surrounding areas always changing, demonstrates how this is not Mexico or any other surrounding country.

Obviously her adventures are just her subconscious longing to be free, to be released from the cell she lives in, to see the farthest reaches of the globe, the highest peaks and lowest valleys, places she will never see. It is not only a desire to be physically free, but free from her mental anguish.

Her companions are also constructs of her mind as well. Her subconscious is telling her that she needs help carrying her emotional baggage and her longing for direction in life. Swiper is easily the manifestation of her past trauma. He misdirects her efforts to brake free, sending her off her quest and deeper into the imaginary constructs of her mind.

Swiper bears a mask because Dora cannot face the trauma of her past, she cannot bear to to come face to face with the haunting memories of her past. Just as Dora cannot see behind Swiper's mask, We cannot see behind the mask that Dora places in front of the viewer's very eyes.

Dora copes with her trauma the same way she copes with Swiper. She repeatedly yells "Swiper! No!" once she has said this enough, Swiper disappears. Dora repeatedly denies Swiper's very existence until he vanishes. This is Dora repressing her memory , hoping that each time she yells no, Swiper will leave her alone forever.

Yet Swiper always returns. Why is that? It is because Dora cannot, for all her denial, escape her traumatic past. Until Dora can face Swiper and stand up to him once and for all, she will never be free.

Although, it should be noticed that Mexican roadsides are pretty empty, except for the sandstorms.
