It's depressing to see how inactive it has been recently. I mean, everybody is pretty much primarily posting in the never ending thread now and there's not enough people here to make this place really booming. We need to find some way to bring more people here before this place just fades into nothingness...

I know for a fact that a lot of boards out there are thriving because of how many people are there. We just need to get back into the game and pull people here. However, where we obtain these people might matter, because we don't to end up pulling in douches like those at Selkath.

I understand that people are busy these days, but it doesn't seem like they're rarely at their computer anymore. I know most of you are still dicking around with your computer. I don't know how we …

So, it is October 31st. War Z Beta day. Uly and Grim went ahead and played last night. (Wilbourn has been in since alpha.)

The game feels really unforgiving to new players. All the good shit is near towns and shacks, and those have zombies. You spawn with a flashlight(for your first few lives) which you can use as a weapon but it takes anywhere from 50-100 hits to kill a zombie with it. One-on-one, you can stunlock a zombie by swinging your flashlight, so you CAN kill one fairly easily, but it's annoying. If more than one zombie is on you, you just have to run. Me and grimeth died a fair few times before we had our first real adventure.

Fuck if I know how to give zombies the slip, but grimeth seemed to manage it. They're faster than you at normal run speed and will eventually kill you, but you can sprint faster than them. You have a sprint meter that runs out though, so if you don't lose them, you're basically dead.

The only difference I can tell between normal and hardcore characters is that a normal character will likely retain his experience and skills. We made normal chars and all your shit drops when you die. Supposedly, you can reclaim them if nobody steals it. When I died to zombies, I basically had jack shit. Any time I had something of value, it happened to be some random fucker who shot me dead. I hope the granola bar was worth it, you FAGGOT!

Aaaaanyway, most people seem to be the cutthroat type. Shoot you on sight. The only decent folk were newer players without guns. Me and grimeth met a guy named Jib who had a bat. He made us nervous. I had a hammer at the time. He saw grimeth, but not me. I was lying down in the grass behind him. Pretty funny it was... you see, this guy wouldn't respond to us. He just walked around and felt pretty threatening what with his god damn baseball bat. Grimeth had a flashlight. He was gonna shine it at the guy(which seriously creates this big ol flash of light on your screen at the right distance. Like half your screen is white from the light. The flashlight is powered by a thousand suns. Which also happens to be a beacon in the woods at night. You'd see a fucker swinging his flashlight around long before you'd know he was there. I mean night time is DARK! It's not so dark you can't see, you can see where you're going fine. But zombies and players are hard to spot at night, especially if you don't move. I met a guy in the woods and we talked a bit, he couldn't find me though because I laid down and didn't move. Shone his flashlight right on me at least twice, still kept asking where I was. I didn't want to say because I was unarmed and didn't trust him just yet >_>)

Now, long-ass side story aside... Grimeth was gonna shine his flashlight at the guy and I would stand up and run at him from behind with my hammer. Grimeth kept saying to do it... I didn't just yet, I mean, he could be friendly! We can't just kill every random fuck! Eventually Jib talked and all seemed well... grimeth even gave him food and water. To earn his trust, you see... the poor son of a bitch...

Anyway, we met another fellow. His name was Likker. Much easier to trust him, he was unarmed. Couldn't hurt a fly. You can't punch or nothin in this game. (it's possible he was concealing a melee weapon like a hammer, though... I know I was >_>)

Our merry band became 4. Uly, Grim, Jib, and Likker. We traveled a ways, heading to a little town but grimeth didn't quite trust jib. I won't lie, he gave off a not-so-friendly vibe. Didn't join in doing the worm (going prone and standing back up repeatedly. Looks kinda funny) or jumping-in-place party. Grimeth kept demanding we ambush him... I had the hammer, you see... our hammer and flashlight would surely maul him before he could react if we hit him from behind out of the blue.

I refused... I said no, he was basically our buddy now. We can't just maul him to death. What would Likker think? How would he trust us? Grimeth didn't know, but he didn't care. He just wanted to kill Jib so bad... I kept saying no, we can't! I had the hammer, so grimeth did nothing... for like a whole 2 minutes. He eventually took it upon himself to beat Jib to death with a flashlight while he was mid-sentence.(typing, that is... he stopped to type back to something one of us had said, at least I assume that's what he was doing)

Grimeth succeded... Jib was dead... his granola bars and cans of soda rained on us like the nectar of heaven. It was hilarious, I'll admit, but damn, come on. He trusted us! You killed him, grimeth! He'll never trust again! Likker stands there and says "what the fuck" and grimeth turns on him like a wild animal and starts beating him, too! Likker ran down the road with grimeth on his tail, swinging his flashlight like a madman until likker hit the ground dead! Again... this was also hilarious... watching him run for his life while grimeth beat him with a flashlight. BUT IT WAS WRONG, SO WRONG!

I asked grimeth why he did it. He says, "I didn't think he would trust us after that"

Anyway, it wasn't too long after that we ran into a fucker in the woods with a rifle who shot us both dead... The prick... Didn't see him till the last second. We probably scared him, too. It was still dark out, you see. He had no remorse, though... he lol'd at our dead bodies. I wrote down his name for future reference...

I got to play with Grim and Wilbz for awhile... Before we got jumped by some fucks... We separated in the chaos... I died...

I guess the only way you can do anything creative without the risk of getting ass raped by hackers is to rent out a private server for you and your friends...

The poor soul ran past me and I had no choice but to shoot him in the back with MY shotgun... grimeth would've been furious if I had not.

Also, me and wilbourn disconnected once. We relogged back in and BANG! I'm dead. Wilbourn seemed pretty happy to have just killed a man. His buddy uly who logged in WITH HIM. WHO ELSE WOULD IT BE!

Also, grimeth was going apeshit with a hammer on zombies while poor uly spotted another player in the distance through his binoculars. Unfortunately, I was not there to help grimeth with this person because in grimeth's zeal, he mauled me to death with his hammer "on accident."
